Race 8 – Juvenile Fillies

After the Juvenile Turf race ending in a victory for Fire At Will, the horses begin to line up at the starting gates to prepare for this years Juvenile Fillies. Unfortunately for us Brits, this race only includes Americans with no European interest.

Last year the race was snatched by British Idiom with Donna Veloce and Bast following up behind in first and second.

Current odds and horses:

1 – Simply Ravishing 5/2

2 – Vequist 13/2

3 – Dayoutoftheoffice 10/3

4 – Thoughtfully 50/1

5 – Girl Daddy 13/2

6 – Crazy Beautiful 20/1

7 – Princess Noor 11/3

Princess Noor heads the market as 11/4 favourite, but late money is coming in for Simply Ravishing who looks to build on an already impressive record. On top of this, Dayoutoftheoffice also isn’t looking too bad either.

Start

20:51:45 And we’re off as the riders smash out of the gates with such ferocity.

20:52:00 Vequist starts off as well to lead the front.

20:52:25 Dayoutoftheoffice pulls away as the race starts to pan out but Princess Noor, Vequist and Girl Daddy are hot on her tail.

20:53:11 Dayoutoftheoffice isn’t able to hold on to her lead as Vequist charges past to end the race in style and grab the victory.

Despite such a strong start from Dayoutoftheoffice, Vequist was able to end the race brilliantly on the home straight to run out an impressive winner.

Results

1st – Vequist

2nd – Dayoutoftheoffice

3rd – Girl Daddy

Race 9 – Juvenile Fillies Turf

You now join us for the 9th race of the day in the Juvenile Fillies Turf which will get begin at 9:30PM.

The current best bets and favourite racers that look to take on the next step of the Breeders’ cup are:

5 – Aunt Pearl 5-2

10 – Campanelle 4-1

4 – Plum Ali 9-2

3 – Alda 11-1

2, 8, 1 – Miss Amulet, Mother Earth, Oodnadatta 14-1

14 – Editor At Large 18-1

Outside of these favourites, Spanish Love Affair is getting a lot of attention as a horse that might cause some upsets here, as rider Tyler Gaffalione looks to add his two wins and one second place already this evening.

Start

21:31:23 And they’re out of the gates for the Juvenile Fillies turf.

21:31:40 Aunt Pearl takes the first lead with Campanelle just behind.

21:32:15 Aunt Pearl breaks away from the pack, giving herself a healthy lead. It really looks like they could take the race with that four length advantage.

21:32:50 Aunt Pearl still easily leading as Mother Earth looks to make a charge for second place.

21:33:03 Aunt Pearl displays a superb attitude to walk away with first place. Great performance.

The fact that Aunt Pearl was able to hold her lead right from the very start shows that this is a filly going in the right direction. That performance would have been impressive for any horse, but given that this is a two-year-old making her third ever start makes it very special.

Results

2nd – Mother Earth

3rd – Miss Amulet

Race 10 – TVG Juvenille

Following such a strong performance from Aunt Pearl in the Juvenile Fillies Turf, we now lead up to the TVG Juvenile to round off what has been such a thrilling card.

Leading up to the starting gates, Jackie’s Warrior from Steve Asmussen looks to be a hot favourite for the 10:15PM race, which was always likely given that he is unbeaten in all four of his races.

2 – King Fury 66/1

3 – Reinvestment Risk 7/1

4 – Likeable 25/1

22:16:54 Dreamer’s Disease looks to start the race off with a lead.

22:17:15 Firm favourite, Jackie’s Warrior is currently sitting in 4th.

22:17:35 Dreamer’s Disease still retains the lead but is being closely tracked by Likeable and Jackie’s Warrior.

22:18:07 Jackie’s Warrior now makes a deciding charge but Hot Rod Charlie tracks him through.

22:18:30 Out of nowhere Essential Quality surges out of the pack to win the Juvenile victory.

Jockey Luis Saez is delighted with his first ever Breeders’ Cup victory after causing such an upset to the front runners in the final moments.

Whilst the race looked set to be a battle between Jackie’s Warrior and Dreamer’s Disease in the closing stages, Essential Quality was able to sneak through and snatch the first place spot. A simply brilliant moment for the horse and connections.

2nd – Hot Rod Charlie

3rd – Keep Me In Mind

That victory is a fitting end to a great night’s racing, there has been some truly outstanding winners tonight at Keeneland and it has been a brilliant watch. Thank you for reading.
