Senegal enters the knockout phase of the 2022 World Cup as they prepare to face England in the Round of 16. 

The Teranga Lions just about made it through the group stages after a smash-gran qualification after beating Ecuador to leapfrog the South Americans and finish second in Group A. 

England’s journey through the group stages was unscathed with a 6-2 victory over Iran and a 3-0 thumping against Wales saw them secure top of Group B.

Senegal is still hit with more player uncertainty as Idrissa Gueye is suspended after receiving a second booking during the Ecuador game. 

Sadio Mane and Cheikhou Kouyate are both still injured are expected not to return to the squad any time soon. 

Watford winger Ismaila Sarr and Sheffield United’s Iliman Ndiaye have been selected to try and fit the Mane shaped hole that has been left in the squad. 

Meanwhile, Gareth Southgate will have the difficult decision of picking his starting XI. 

Kyle Walker, Phil Foden, Jordan Hendson and Marcus Rashford were introduced to the starting lineup against Wales and their triumph successful presents Southgate will a real conundrum. 

Both Kalvin Philips and James Maddison remain short of full fitness so are unlikely to make an appearance.
