A long range effort from Paul Pogba sends Manchester United back to the top of the Premier League table on a windy night at Craven Cottage.

Fulham went in front after just four minutes as a long-range pass over the top was met by Ademola Lookman who was unopposed as he fired the ball past the on-looking David De Gea.

United then drew level when Bruno Fernandes’ cross was spilled by Alphonse Areola in the Fulham goal who presented Edinson Cavani with a simple tap in from close range.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side got their noses in front with 25 minutes to go.  Paul Pogba’s effort on his weaker foot bent round the arm of the opposition keeper and hit the back of the net with some force to give his side the lead.

The home side had their chances to get something out of the game however. On 75 minutes, Ruben Loftus-Cheek was played through by Lookman but David De Gea stayed firm in United’s goal to keep his side ahead.

Solskjaer’s men could have made it a more comfortable affair when Edinson Cavani had his close range header saved by Areola, who kept his side in the game until the full time whistle.

A win for United means they regain their spot at the Premier League summit and stretch their unbeaten away record to 13 matches. For Scott Parker’s men, they will look to bounce back against Brighton, who currently sit five points clear of them in 15th place.
