Manchester United will be looking to make it four wins from four in all competitions when they travel to St Marys to face an in-form Southampton team.

United won back to back league games for the first time since July after beating West Bromwich Albion 1-0 last weekend. United also claimed victory in mid-week, beating Istanbul Basaksehir 4-1, leaving them in a strong position in their Champions League group. United are looking for their eighth consecutive away league win for the first time in the club’s history and three points will see them go a point behind Southampton with a game in hand.

Southampton have been one of the league’s surprise packages this season with the Saints undefeated since their free scoring 5-2 loss against Tottenham Hotspur in October. Since then, they have picked up 17 points from a possible 21, with their last outing a 1-1 draw against Wolves at Molineux. The Saints have won their last three home games, all by the same 2-0 score line and they could win a fourth straight home game for the first time since May 2016.

Team News

United defenders Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelöf both picked up knocks in mid-week and will be assessed. Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay are both doubts after not returning to full training. Edinson Cavani could make his first league start after impressing in midweek.

Southampton are without Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings after a knee injury. Theo Walcott scored his first Saints goal since 2006 and is expected to start again. Ryan Bertrand and James Ward-Prowse both featured against Wolves and are expected to start.
