‘He hasn’t told me this,’ said Ten Hag when questioned on Ronaldo’s rumoured intentions to leave United. ‘I spoke to him before this issue came up. We had a real good talk.
‘He’s in our plans and we want to be successful together. I’m looking forward to working with him.’
Ronaldo wasn’t included in the club’s recent pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia which emphasised his transfer speculations. However, Ten Haag also stated that Ronaldo wasn’t involved with the squad due to ‘personal issues’.
Sky Sports News have reported that United are willing to listen to offers for Ronaldo this summer and that his agent, Jorge Mendes has been selling the Ronaldo appeal to the likes of Chelsea, Napoli, Bayern Munich and even Barcelona.
Last season, Ronaldo finished as United’s top scorer with 18 goals in the league and 27 goal contributions in all competitions. With one more year left on his contract, it looks like the five-time Ballon D’or winner will remain in Manchester for the time being.
