Home   /   Conte’s First League Game Ends In Goalless Stalemate

Antonio Conte will realise he has a lot of work to do to get Spurs to where he wants after the North London side failed to register a shot on target.

There was a clear formation and game plan but Everton were able to snuff out the Spurs attack who were non-existent.

Everton thought they had a penalty after 65 minutes when Richarlison was seemingly taken out by Hugo Lloris, however VAR showed the Spurs and England captain got the ball and the penalty was overturned.

Substitute Giovani Lo Celso thought he had nicked a late winner for Spurs when his curling shot from just outside the box struck the post and bounced back out.

Everton substitute Mason Holgate received a red card in injury time for a horrific tackle on Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, but there was not enough time left for Spurs to make the advantage count.

The North-London side’s defence looked a lot more sturdy than the midweek Europa league game against SBV Vitesse and Ben Davies produced a good performance in his role at left centre-back which he performs well for Wales.

Neither team really produced enough to win the game and a draw was probably the fair result.
