Michael Appleton will be facing his former team this weekend as his Charlton side host Blackpool at The Valley. Appleton’s Charlton are in a great vein of form since his arrival on the 8th of September. The Addicks under Appleton’s tutelage are unbeaten in League One with 2 wins and 2 draws in four games leaving the club in the 14th position. As for Blackpool the recently relegated side have been a mixed bag this season finding themselves in the 13th position.
The game also sees former Charlton Academy graduate Albie Morgan returning to The Valley for the first time since his contract expired in June 2023. The former Ebbsfleet loanee played over 100 games for Charlton after making his debut for the club in 2018.Embed from Getty Images
Heading into the game Charlton will be without summer signings Tayo Edun , Harry Isted and Panutche Camara as well as Connor McGrandles and Terry Taylor who went off injured in Charlton’s 0-0 draw with Shrewsbury. When asked about Taylors injury Appleton said “It doesn’t look a great one. It’s a bad one on the ligament. From Terry’s point of view, they haven’t put a timeline on him yet.” Blackpool are without Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel, Matty Virtue and Kyle Joseph.
