Hello, my name is Luca and join me in tonight’s Champions League Matchday 6 where neither top of group nor third place is secured. Atletico Madrid and Bayern Leverkusen can both reach third to have themselves placed into the Europa League and the other side of the table has a possibility of topping the group for FC Porto or Club Brugge. Porto and Bayern Leverkusen are the home sides this evening.

Porto line up with a 4-4-2 formation and Atletico play the same formation as the Portuguese side.

Kick Off with Madrid starting from left to right

3- Atletico win a corner early on. Ball in from Griezmann but nothing comes from it and allows a Porto counter, but they offer a poor attempt on target.

4- GOAL! Pepe Aquino works it well on the right side of the pitch and plays a through ball into Evanilson who squares it across Oblak for an easy tap in of Taremi. That Porto goal has the Madrid side bottom of the group and missing out on Europa League football.

12- Oblak makes a great save from point blank range and the ball goes out for a corner. Galeno works a shot off inside the box after a well worked one-two move with Taremi. Atletico don’t look like they’ve shown up yet as the chances are coming from Porto.

18- Ball looks for Joao Felix on the left but Porto fullback Pepe Aquino shields it well to go out for a goal kick.

19- Savic manages a cross into Felix who is outside the box and struggles with his header as it goes well wide of the target.

21- First bit of build-up play from Atletico, and they manage to win a corner after passing it across the pitch with the move ending in a cross.

23- GOAL! Galeno cuts the ball back into the box after beating Savic to the ball and Hermoso can’t reach Eustaquio shot how beats Oblak by placing it into the bottom left corner.

Atletico need to do something as they are crashing out even with the Club Brugge vs Bayern Leverkusen match still 0-0 in the 28th minute.

32- De Paul has a chance that blazes over the bar after Joao Felix crosses a ball into Angel Correa and it’s not cleared fully away from the Porto defence.

36- Porto with another chance and Oblak with another save. Taremi plays the ball into an open space and Evanilson can’t convert due to the feet of Jan Oblak.

Jan Oblak keeping his side with having even the slightest of chance to come back and win this match.

38- Yellow Card form Grujic as he extends his arm shielding the ball and catches Correa in the face in the process.

41- Yellow Card for Renildo as he clashes legs with Otavio, and the Porto winger goes down for a breif period.

45- 2 minutes of added time before the first half can finish as there haven’t been too many stoppages of play to worry any more minutes.

Half Time- Simeone really needs to motivate his players as they seem like they are not even trying apart from Jan Oblak and Joao Felix. Porto just need to carry on with the same tactics they’re running as they are cruising to victory as it stands.

Club Brugge vs Bayern Leverkusen is still 0-0 at halftime making the group leaders FC Porto, Club Brugge in second, Bayern Leverkusen making it into the Europa League round of 16 and Atletico Madrid dead last.

Second Half begins with the teams switching shooting sides. No substitutions for either side nor change in formations.

47- Yellow Card for Stefan Savic who lost concentration and stopped Porto from gaining any advantage

50- Freekick whipped in, but Savic steps up to clear, Porto still manage to work a chance but Taramei shots straight down the throat of Oblak.

52- Porto are forced into making a change as Sanusi was injured after being challenged by Savic. Wendell comes on as his replacement.

59- Joao Felix has an attempt from outside the box but Diogo Costa makes an easy save out of it. BT Sport commentary call it a “lazy save”

60- Atletico finally make their change. Simeone has changed his side, but it might be too late at this point in the match. Carrasco and Cunha on, Joao Felix and Saul off. The relationship between Joao Felix and Diego Simeone is surely dead in the water as Felix was one of the better performing players for Madrid.

67- Griezmann initially scores but ruled out due to a very soft foul from De Paul in the build-up. De Paul then confronts the referee and Cardoso.

67- Yellow Card for both Cardoso and De Paul for a confrontation between the pair of them.

73- Corner in from Wendell and Porto manage a headed effort at goal resulting in an Oblak save. Atletico then counter from the Porto chance and Angel Correa manages a shot on target and it’s saved by Porto’s 99.

76- Yannick Carrasco coming on has had a massive factor in Atletico Madrid getting back into the game and he has a chance to get a goal back, but it’s saved by the legs of Diogo Costa.

81- Evanislon replaced by Toni Martinez.

84- Angel Correa makes may for Barrios who only made his Atletico Madrid debut last week making it a Champions League debut tonight.

87- Griezmann with a chance but it could have been a better chance if he used his weaker right foot rather than his left.

90- 5 additional minutes for Atletico Madrid to have one last push. Porto just need to hold on to this win and they top Group B. Bayern Leverkusen secure Europa League football as it stands.

Club Brugge vs Bayern Leverkusen ends in a tie with the score ending as it started as, 0-0.

90+4- OWN GOAL! Atletico Madrid score a consolation goal but it’s too late with a minute left.

Full Time

FC Porto win a convincing game with Atletico Madrid with another lacklustre performance in the Champions League this season for a team that on paper could have potentially gone quite far into this competition.

Man of the Match performance from the FC Porto winger, converted fullback for tonight, Pepe Aquino. He was phenomenal all night despite not having any goal contributions. Dominated his side of the pitch and constantly made progressive runs that helped his team secure the 3 points on Matchday 6 of the UEFA Champions League.
