Patrick Bamford scored his 10th goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 5th minute as Leeds secured a much needed three points at Elland Road.

Nick Pope felled Patrick Bamford in the penalty box after being put through by Raphinha. Referee Robert Jones immediately pointed to the spot in which Bamford notched the game’s only goal.

Burnley were unfortunate not to be level 13 minutes later when Ashley Barnes appeared to capitalize on Illan Meslier’s mistake to spin inside the area and fire the loose ball into an empty net.

The 20-year-old Leeds goalkeeper was awarded a free-kick despite spilling the ball in what seemed like a fair aerial challenge with Ben Mee.

Burnley had many opportunities to claim the equaliser but for some good goalkeeping from Meslier denying Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes on several occasions.

Leeds had chances of their own to seal the three points even further but they were also wasteful in front of goal.

Burnley were unlucky for much of the afternoon, defeat means they stay in 16th place two points from the drop zone. Leeds United move up to 11th after their win.
