Manchester City returned to winning ways by securing a 2-1 victory against a very dangerous Brighton & Hove Albion.

City manager Pep Guardiola praised Brighton’s tough display: “Against Brighton, controlling the game for 95 minutes is impossible; no team in the world can do that.”

Despite this, Pep was really happy with City’s first half performance; especially that of Jeremy Doku: “Jeremy is an exceptional winger. He is smart and defensively intuitive, and I’m really pleased with the impact he has made.”

However, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi was disappointed in his side’s first half performance: “We didn’t start well but that’s because we were playing the best team in the world. The problem was that we gave Man City too much time to pass the ball into good positions.”

He was also concerned about his side’s injuries leading up to today’s game: “I’m frustrated with our injuries as we’ve lost too many players this season and it’s going to be tough. We have to improve because this season has changed us. We’re not used to European competition.”

Thankfully, De Zerbi finished off by praising his side’s performance later in the game: “In the second half, we showed more quality by giving more energy, courage and attitude.”
