On Sunday two teams with different motives face each other. Madrid need the win to go top of La Liga, while the other need the points to avoid being caught up in a relegation battle.

Valencia: In urgency of winning

Valencia need a win. The club have not experienced that winning feeling since September 19, against Real Sociedad.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s game, Valencia are only three points above relegation and will face the league contenders. Last weekend they managed a point against Getafe in an thrilling game. Carlos Soler scored a penalty in the 100th minute after his side conceded a six minutes earlier.

Missing players: Diakhaby, Cillessen and Thierry Correia.

Current league standings: 13th, 8 points.

Real Madrid: A job to finish the week on a 10

Real Madrid are full of confidence. This Sunday they will face a team who are always tough to play against. It is opportunity for Real Madrid to take advantage of Valencia’s poor form.

A win against Valencia would take Los Blancos top of the table. At the moment they are second in La Liga with a game less than leaders Real Sociedad.

Zidane has his top three players back. Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio are back and could prove pivotal in Madrid’s title race.
