Home   /   UK GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR STUDENT EXODUS AT CHRISTMAS

The government has published long awaited plans on how university students will be allowed to return home in time for Christmas.

The Department for Education has announced a “student travel window” which will run between December 3 and December 9 and it is expected universities in different regions of the country will coordinate staggered departure dates to avoid putting pressure on public transport.

Until then students in England must continue to follow current COVID-19 restrictions in their term-time accommodation. The Department of Education also announced today mass student testing for high infection rate areas will be introduced so as many students as possible can be tested before heading home. Any student who tests positive will still have to self-isolate for the required period of ten days.
