Sussex Cricket Club begin their pre-season on the 25th of March with a two day friendly against Surrey at the 1st Central County Ground. The Hove based outfit will be looking to gain promotion from Division 2 into Division 1 after a third place finish last season.

Sussex CC have also announced Pete Fitzboydon as the new Chief Executive Officer. Fitzboydon, speaking about the Club said: “Sussex Cricket is an exceptional organization with a rich heritage. There are so many exciting opportunities ahead for Sussex Cricket, not least developing the women’s game and helping the sport to widen its appeal to all communities.”

On the players side, the Club has announced John Simpson and Tymal Mills as the captains for the 2024 season. Simpson will be the red ball captain, while Mills will lead the side in T20 Blast, unless he is called up for England for the T20 World Cup in June. Head Coach Paul Farbrace said ‘the situation will be reassessed’ if Mills has to leave camp.

Experienced Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara and Daniel Hughes have been signed as the overseas batters for the season. Farbrace said: “His (Pujara’s) experience and calmness in matches is a fantastic asset for our team.”

Sussex CC begin their County campaign against Northamptonshire on the 5th of April.
