Jack Grealish praises Gareth Southgate with the England manager under pressure from fans over the lack of game time for Aston Villa’s captain.

After being substituted off in the 61st minute, Grealish hopes it is a sign that he’ll be heavily involved in England’s Nations League match against Belgium on Sunday.

“I want to play as much as possible. All I’ve got to do is try and impress the manager as much as I can and since I’ve come here he’s been brilliant with me, on and off the pitch he’s been speaking to me all the time and telling me what he wants me to do and that’s what I’ve tried to do so fingers crossed.”

Southgate himself spoke positively about Grealish after he picked up an assist for Jadon Sancho’s goal in England’s 3-0 win over the Republic of Ireland. Sancho also impressed.

“Yeah the two players in those roles, Jadon and Jack, they’ve got the freedom to go either side of the pitch to try and create overloads, so i thought at times both of them did that really well, of course as soon as they’re turned and running at people they’re a real problem for the opponent.”
