Real Sociedad 0-4 Manchester United

Goals from Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James complete a dominant victory away from home in the Europa League as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side all but confirm their place in the Europa League Round of 16.

It was a frantic start to the game from both sides as Adnan Januzaj took the ball off Eric Bailly 25 yards from goal but his shot flew just wide of Dean Henderson’s far post.

Marcus Rashford had a chance moments later up the other end as he was played through on goal but his effort was saved from close range.

The visitors were able to make the breakthrough on 27 minutes when Fred played a ball over the top of the Sociedad defence which caused two defenders and the goalkeeper to converge, with none of them able to clear the ball, which left a simple tap-in for Bruno Fernandes.

United doubled their lead 13 minutes after the half time interval as Fernandes got on the end of Daniel James’ poked ball forward leaving the Portuguese a good angle to slot the ball past Álex Remiro in the Sociedad goal.

Solskjaer’s side put the game to bed six minutes later as Rashford got in on the act. A classic counter-attacking move saw Fed play the 23-year-old into acres of space which left Rashford an easy finish into the bottom right-hand corner.

James, who looked lively throughout, made it four with a minute left of the 90 to go as he took the ball from the right-hand side and produced a skilful solo effort to make his way into the box and place the ball through the keepers legs and into the back of the net.
