Tonight it’s a clash between first and third in Ligue 1 as Paris Saint-Germain take on Stade Rennes in the Parc des Princes.

PSG have won seven league games in a row however, they lost during the week in the Champions League against RB Leipzig. Rennes beat Brest last week 2-1 but they also lost to Chelsea 3-0 in midweek.

Going into the game Rennes are the underdogs, but they have the best record against PSG since last seasons Champions League finalists were taken over in 2011.

Rennes are the only side to have beaten PSG twice in Paris since 2011. The two sides only played against each other once last season which resulted in a win for Rennes, beating PSG 2-1 at Roazhon Park.

PSG are missing big-name players like Kylian Mbappe and Neymar but Moise Kean has been in good form going into the game today. Jérémy Doku and Adrien Truffert are the only changes in the side tonight from their Champions League game during the week.

The game has kicked off tonight with PSG starting the game in the Parc des Princes.

Min 3: So far Renne are trying to play out from the back but PSG’s high press is proving difficult for them.

Min 4: YELLOW CARD for Ander Herrera gets an early yellow card after a strong challenge on Damien Da Silva.

Min 7: Yann Gboho has been looking lively in the game tonight so far and made life difficult for the PSG defence.

Min 11: GOAL for PSG. Poor play from the Rennes goalkeeper Alfred Gomis playing the ball into the midfield which lead to Kean getting the ball and firing a shot into the corner of the goal.

Min 12: Substitution for PSG with Rafinha replacing the injured Idrissa Gueye.

Min 14: Ángel Di María almost scores a screamer after a long ball from PSG which his volley crashes against the bar. PSG now looking like they’re growing into the game.

Min 18: Rennes had a good start to the game but the opener has affected them and they haven’t been able to recover yet.

Min 21: GOAL for PSG. Di María scores a beautiful goal after chipping the ball over the Rennes goalkeeper after a through ball by Herrera.

Min 23: Free kick for Rennes which lead to a chance for Steven Nzonzi who tried to head the ball but hits his shoulder and goes over the bar.

Min 28: Rennes seem to have recovered from going two goals down by almost scoring again from another set-piece. Yet again it was Nzonzi who had the chance by making a front post run from a corner kick and headed it wide from the corner.

Min 32: As it stands PSG will be five points ahead of Lille in second place who play against Brest tomorrow.

Min 33: Good play from Rennes by switching the play which results in a shot from Doku who hit the bar.

Min 36: Substitution for PSG with Thilo Kehrer off injured and Mitchel Bakker on.

Min 38: Another chance for Doku who had a chance to score a volley but didn’t strike the ball cleanly and hit it over the bar. Rennes are starting to look comfortable in the game now and need to score soon if they have any chance of getting anything from it.

Min 42: Kean almost made it 3-0 to PSG with a header from a free-kick. The ball was whipped in and Kean headed it over the bar.

Min 45: There are three minutes added in the first half in the Parc des Princes.

Min 45+3: Serhou Guirassy has a long shot which was blocked by Marquinhos which went out for a corner.

Min 45+4: The corner for Rennes lead to a counter-attack for PSG which lead to a shot from Kean which was caught by Gomis.

Half time now in the Parc des Princes where the home side lead 2-0. The two goals from Kean and Di María mean the home side has some breathing room.

Rennes will be happy with how they responded as there were chances for Nzonzi and Doku. If Rennes are going to get back into the game they will have score early in the second half so they can put PSG under pressure.

PSG will be very happy with the way the way the first half has gone.

The second half has started with Rennes kicking off.

Min 47: Rennes has another chance from a set-piece with De Silva trying to head it across goal which was cleared out for a corner for Rennes. The corner lead to nothing.

Min 48: YELLOW CARD for Dagba for stopping a counter attack.

Min 52: Rennes has started the second half well but they need to score to get back in the game.

Min 56: Doku had a chance on goal but he was unable to get the shot off.

Min 57: Substitutions for Rennes with James Léa Siliki and Gboho off for Martin Terrier and Clément Grenier.

Min 59: Shot by Benjamin Bourigeaud went over the bar for Rennes on the edge of the penalty area. They are troubling the PSG defence more and more.

Min 60: Substitution for PSG with Kean being the third PSG player subbed off injured. Danilo Pereira is on.

Min 65: PSG are looking likely that they are going to get the three points in the game tonight.

Min 67: Rennes claiming for a penalty for a handball against Leandro Paredes. However, it wasn’t given.

Min 68: Substitution for Rennes with Bourigeaud off with Adrien Hunou on.

Min 73: GOAL for PSG. Di Maria scores his second goal of the night. Rennes thought they should have had a free-kick and stopped playing. Dagba picked up the ball and played it to Di Maria who hit a shot which took a deflection and went in the bottom corner.

Min 74: YELLOW CARD for Julien Stéphan. The Rennes manager clearly not happy with the PSG third goal and received a caution.

Min 76: Guirassy had a chance for Rennes just inside the penalty area but was unable to hit is cleanly and the shot was saved easily by Keylor Navas in the PSG goal.

Min 79: Substitution for Rennes with Doku off with Romain Del Castillo on.

Min 81: Rennes should have had a penalty as Marquinhos fouls Guirassy just inside the penalty area but the referee gives a free-kick instead.

Min 84: Brilliant save from Gomis in the Rennes goal after a left-footed curling shot from Rafinha.

Thomas Tuchel will be happy with his sides performance tonight.

Min 89: PSG will increase the gap they have at the top of the table in Ligue 1. Rennes will have some positives that they can take from the game but they haven’t been able to make any of their chances count.

Min 90: Three additional minutes left in the game tonight.

Full time at the Parc des Princes with PSG winning 3-0 against Rennes. Goals from Kean and Di María in both halves ensured the three points for PSG. A negative for the French champions is that they suffered a further three injuries to their growing list that involves Gueye, Kehrer and Kean having to come off injured.

Rennes have only won one game in their last eight but there were positive signs during the game and they will feel like they should have scored at one point and will hope to beat Bordeaux in their next game after the international break.

Next for PSG is Monaco away which is just before their game against RB Leipzig in the Champions League where they will be hoping to get their Champions League campaign back on track.
