The Netherlands will be looking to reach the Quarter Finals for the fifth time in their last six World Cup appearances as they face the USA.

The Dutch are unbeaten in their last 19 World Cup games against non-European nations, with their US counterparts winless in their last 11 World Cup games against European nations.

Louis Van Gaal told the Metro: ”The USA has demonstrated that it has an excellent team, I would even say one of the best teams”.

Van Gaal will be hoping that Cody Gakpo can continue his sparkling form. A goal in this game for Gakpo would see him become the first Netherlands player to score in each of his first four World Cup appearances.

There were concerns about the fitness of the US talisman Christian Pulisic, who scored the winning goal in their decisive 1-0 win against Iran. However, USA manager Gregg Berhalter told CNN ”He will be ready for the game against the Netherlands.”

Memphis Depay looks set to start for the second match in a row after returning to the lineup against Qatar. Jeremie Frimpong looks will miss out for the Netherlands as he has an ankle injury, while the USA will be without Norwich City striker Josh Sargent.
