In the fifth round of group A fixtures in the Champions League there is a huge match between the champions in England, Manchester City, who are coming up against the biggest club in France, PSG.

Last time the two teams played against each was on the second match day in the Champions League in France, where PSG won 2-0, where Idrissa Gueye and Lionel Messi scored the two goals. Manchester City had a number of chances in the game but they were able to breakthrough after conceding early in the game and Messi finished the English side, with his first goal for the French side.

Since then, Manchester City have won both their group stage games against Club Brugge with 5-1 and 4-1 victories. In the two games there have been eight different goal scorers for the English side, with Riyad Mahrez the only man scoring twice, showing the depth in the Manchester city team. The English side are on good form recently in all competitions only losing once since the last time they played PSG in September. They are currently second in the Premier League and top of their group in the Champions League.

PSG are currently second in group A in the Champions League after drawing against RB Leipzig in the last round, thanks to conceding a last minute penalty against the Germans. Even though the French side are top of Ligue 1 by 12 points there are rumours that the current PSG manager, Mauricio Pochettino, might leave soon to become the next Manchester United manager. However, PSG are on good form, only losing one game this season in all competitions.

Manchester City will be missing their star creative midfielder Kevin De Bruyne who currently had COVID. The Citizens are still without their Spanish midfielder who still has a foot injury. PSG may be without Gianluigi Donnarumma through illness who missed their game at the weekend against Nantes. They are also going to be without Julian Draxler who is suffering from a muscle injury and will not make the trip to Manchester.

Whatever team wins on Wednesday will qualify for the last 16 in the Champions League. If Manchester City win, they will qualify from the group stage in first place. If PSG win the English side can still win the group if they beat RB Leipzig and Club Brugge manage to beat PSG in Paris in the last round of fixtures.
