Home   /   Los Angeles Rams v Arizona Cardinals AS IT HAPPENED

This should prove to be an interesting clash as both teams will look to bounce back from their defeats in the previous gameweek and try to gain an edge over eachother in their playoff push.

This game will be brought to you by Jack Power.

WE HAVE KICKOFF IN ARIZONA!

QUICK TOUCHDOWN!!! CARDINALS! What a start from Arizona. Failed coverage from the Rams defence sends three guys to follow DeAndre Hopkins, leaving TE Dan Arnold wide open to catch a 59-yard touchdown pass from Kyler Murray.

Instead of going for the 56 yard field goal try, the Rams are in favour of going for in on 4th and 6, but Jared Goff’s pass intended for Robert Woods down the left sideline is incomplete.

The Rams can’t seem to get their offence running having moved the ball just 16 yards on seven plays before punting it away following a Goff sack for a loss of seven yards on 3rd and 9. Rams 0-7 Cardinals.

The first quarter comes to an end as both offences are looking dysfunctional, especially the Rams.

Jared Goff has been struggling in recent weeks and it’s not got any better for him so far as he missed a wide open Cooper Kupp on a 3rd down.

Jonathan Joseph is down early in the second quarter holding his right arm. He looks shaken up from that play. Let’s hope he can continue.

TOUCHDOWN!!! RAMS 7-7 CARDINALS! Cam Akers, the rookie running back makes a magnificent run which was only his second touchdown of the season. He steamrolled through and took a couple Arizona defenders with him into the endzone!

Since the score on the opening drive, the Cardinals have gone three and out on their last three possessions.

INCREDIBLE DEFENCE FROM THE CARDS! Akers is stuffed at the goalline before the Rams go up-tempo and look to catch out the Cards on fourth down, only for the rookie back to be stuffed once again. A big hold from Arizona.

Murray throws incomplete on 2nd and 3rd down and the offense goes 3-and-out for the fourth straight possession. He is now 1-of-8.

The Rams are putting on a solid defensive display after forcing Arizona to punt yet again having been stuffed at their goaline twice. Kyler Murray is having a tough time out there.

TOUCHDOWN RAMS! That was executed with such composure. On third down, Goff opens up his body with great hip movement, allowing him to float a perfectly-weighted pass to Tyler Higbee for beuatiful touchdown late in the first half. RAMS 14-7 CARDINALS.

HALF-TIME

Zane Gonzalez’s 48-yard field goal attempt is no good as time expires in the half after Hopkins had seen a nine-yard catch on the sideline ruled incomplete after a review of the play amid the Cardinals’ effort to put themselves in scoring range.

FIELD GOAL RAMS! Matt Gay’s 39-yard field goal gives the Rams a 10-point lead at the end of an eight-play drive set back by a pass interference call on Robert Woods.

Kliff Kingsbury takes the risk of going for the 4th and 12 but gets rewarded as Murray fires to Johnson. The Cardinals in need of some inspiration from their quarterback.

TOUCHDOWN CARDINALS!! An exquisite piece of play from Kyler Murray on third and four, who delivers a dime for DeAndre Hopkins for the 4 yard touchdown. A tremendous throw matched by a great catch.

END OF 3rd Quarter

RAMS 24-14 CARDINALS: A nine-play drive for the Rams ends with a one-yard touchdown from Goff to restores his side’s 10-point cushion.

TOUCHDOWN CARDINALS!! And just like that they’re right back in it! Was another frustrating drive as they were forced to punt, but they get the ball straight back! The punt return is fumbled by Webster and recovered by Sherfield, before Kenyan Drake darts left and breaks two tackles for the four-yard touchdown two plays later. They needed that.

TOUCHDOWN RAMS! RAMS 31-21 CARDINALS. Their 10 point lead has restored due to an outstanding play design from Sean McVay throughout the drive. After a good start from Goff with the ball in hand, he hands it off to Darrell Henderson who spots the lane and breaks through with barely a hand on him to run away for a 38-yard touchdown.

TOUCHDOWN RAMS!! THAT SHOULD DO IT – Murray’s pass intercepted. Troy Hill steps in front of a pass intended for Isabella and returns it 36 yards for the TD. A speicial play.

It really has been an up and down game for the young Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. He has dished a couple dimes but also has a couple crucial interceptions.

This is the Cardinals’ 12th drive and in seven of those drives (if my count is correct) they’ve shuffled the offensive line, mostly with Justin Murray at guard.

TOUCHDOWN CARDS!! Drake glides through for a 27-yard pickup to set up first-and-goal, but the Cards make a mess of it. Drake is stuffed at the goalline, before he and Murray botch the handoff and then the Cards QB can’t find Hopkins, who may have been pulled down in the end zone. At the fourth time of asking they get in, Murray waiting patiently before floating to Arnold.

Goff converts 4th-and-1 with the sneak and the Rams run out the clock. What a win this is for the Rams as they take a step closer to the playoffs!

Goff takes the knee and that will close it out in Arizona, with the Rams handing Arizona their 4th loss in their last 5 games and head above Seattle for the top seed in the NFC West. It was a tremendous game for Jared Goff who finished 37 of 47 for 351 yards and one touchdown. Murray on the other hand wasn’t quite at the races today, being 21-of-39 for 173 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.

Thanks for joining in an action packed game.
