Home   /   Lorent Tolaj spearheads Brighton to Cup glory

Brighton lifted their 15th Sussex County Cup as Worthing surrendered in a 4-2 defeat after a promising start, as 3087 fans watched on.

In took 23 minutes for anything of any real note to happen as Jack Hinchy brought down Reece Myles-Meekums in the area, gifting Worthing the chance to go one up. Oliver Pearce took the opportunity scoring from the spot.

Brighton looked for an instant reaction with Lorent Tolaj who went one on one with Harrison Male but was denied by the Worthing shot stopper.

Brighton were back level in the 31st minute as Tolaj fired a shot into the top left corner just inside the area to bring his side level.

Brighton completed the turn around in the 40th minute as Todd Miller slipped in Tolaj to fire in his second of the game via a curled strike from outside the box.

The home side went into the break 2-1 up after a hard fought battle against a strong Worthing side who had several chances themselves.

Worthing really put on the pressure at the start of the second half having several shots yet none on target.

Brighton all but sealing the contest as Jack Spong made his way past the Worthing back line where he then unselfishly squared the ball to Cam Peupion who tapped home.

64th minute and Brighton added another to their tally, Tolaj with the assist to Andy Moran who slots home close in.

A consolation goal from Joel Colbran in the 83rd minute from a scramble in the box made it a more respectable score line.

A late red for Jasper Pattenden caused Worthing to end the final with ten men.
