Olivie Lukášová shined as England were held to a closely fought 0-0 draw by the Czech Republic tonight at the Amex Stadium

Lauren Hemp saw her effort cleared off the line in  the 59th minute of the game as Olivie Lukášová was well beaten. The England number 9 was almost off in celebration before seeing Petra Bertholdová’s boot clear it off the line and keep the game level.

Beth Mead’s effort in the 81st minute nearly stole a win for the Lionesses and  forced a world class save Lukášová who had a great game between the sticks for the Czech Republic tonight.

Lauren James came close to giving England an early lead after getting the better of Eliška Sonntagová following a Chloe Kelly corner, only to be foiled by the near post of Lukášová’s goal.

Kelly’s headed effort from a Lucy Bronze cross in the 38th minute nearly got england the breakthrough, Lukášová was beaten but unfortunately, for Man City player, it went just wide of the post. 

Czech striker, Andrea Strašková, forced the only save from England goalkeeper Mary Earps in the 41st minute, but it was routine for Earps and ended a rather quiet first half.

England started the second half strongly as half-time substitution Beth Mead’s cross was nearly converted by the head of Lauren Hemp. 

Soon after, a great ball from Millie Bright saw Mead through for a one-v-one, she took the ball past the Czech goalkeeper but couldn’t quite get her shot away. 

Slavia Prague left-back Gabriela Šlaksová was stretchered off in the 69th minute after her challenge on Lauren Hemp to end a disappointing night for the Czechs.
