World class Kerr’s audacious lob seals the victory for the Blues at Wembley

Oh my word! That’s ridiculous” were the words of Adam Summerton from the gantry describing the audacious lobbed finish from Sam Kerr to seal the game.

GOAL! (ARSENAL 0 – 1 CHELSEA) ’03 – The deadlock was broken within minutes by Fran Kirby. A mistake from Jennifer Beattie cost the Gunners an early goal as Kirby stroked it home past a static Manuela Zinsberger.

Complete domination from Chelsea in the early stages with Kirby yet again going close forcing Zinsberger into an outstretched save to deny her a brace.

The combination of Kirby and Kerr proved difficult for Arsenal as Zinsberger is forced into save after save with the defence not giving her any reprieve.

The bar was rattled just after the half hour mark as Kerr’s attempt goes begging with the fans in disbelief at how it wasn’t 2-0.

Jessica Carter’s role in the centre of the back three baring fruit for the Blues with the defender spraying passes to both flanks.

GOAL! (ARSENAL 0 – 2 CHELSEA) ’57 – A mistake by Beth Mead on the edge of the Chelsea box was instantly punished. Kirby was at the centre of it all again as she registers a well-worked assist for Kerr who outpaced Lotte Wubben-Moy and fired home at the near post to double Chelsea’s lead.

A mixup at the back almost cost Chelsea with a dangerous lofted cross into the area not being dealt with confidently as Millie Bright and Erin Cuthbert got into a tangle, only just clearing it away.

GOAL! (ARSENAL 0 – 3 CHELSEA) ’79 – Flashbacks of ‘that’ Ramires chip against Barcelona at the Nou Camp as Kerr brilliantly dinks the oncoming Zinsberger to give her a brace and Chelsea the three goal lead.

“London is blue and when that second goal went in I was purring” stated a defiant Emma Hayes in the post-match press conference oozing confidence after becoming the first female manager to win the Women’s FA Cup three times.
