Home   /   Croatia face a strenuous challenge against Japan as they look to grace the Quarters!

Croatia and Japan are set to battle it out for a spot in the Quarter Finals of the patented 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Vatreni finished second in their group behind surprising leaders, Morocco.

They stockpiled a couple of dismaying draws against Morocco and Belgium, when they sent the latter, crashing out of the world cup. The Croats reigned supreme by four goals to one over the Canadians in their group stage. Their sole victory in the tournament so far.

They face a tough test in the Japanese, who have gone on to have an unprecedented campaign so far, racking up triumphs over former World Cup champions, Germany and Spain.

Zlatko Dalic’s men will look to set the tone early in the game with their midfield trinity of Mateo Kovacic, Marcelo Brozovic, and captain Luka Modric.

Kovacic will be expected to progress the ball with his immaculate dribbling and vision, while Luka Modric free roams with the intention to create opportunities for his country.

Dalic has named two changes to the side that knocked the ‘Red Devils’ out of the tournament. Borna Barisic replaces Borna Sosa at left-back, while Bruno Petkovic spearheads the attack for the Vatreni, replacing Marko Livaja! Both men are making their campaign debuts for Croatia.
