Spain manager Luis Enrique says “we have to stay positive” as his side let a late lead slip against Germany.
“But we have to think that we are at the top of the so-called Group of Death and we have to stay positive.”
Spain could go through with a draw against Japan, but Enrique will not take any chances with his starting eleven.
“A draw against Japan on Thursday would probably send us through to (the) knockouts but we will not speculate. We will use our full strength (team) and go for the win to secure the top in the group standings.”Embed from Getty Images
Hansi Flick thought the sides were “level” with his side even having a late chance to take all three points. “We knew what was at stake. Spain played good football but the teams were level and we had a huge chance in the end to win it but these things happen.”Embed from Getty Images
After losing 2-1 to Japan, Flick will be happy with the bounce-back, against a side who have perhaps been the most impressive this tournament.
“The team fought hard and I am very satisfied with their mentality. These are the things we want and we know that we did take the first step.”Embed from Getty Images
