Home   /   England Blitz Past Australia

England demolished Australia by eight wickets with 50 balls left, to make it three wins from three in the T20 World Cup and put one foot in the semi finals.

England’s bowling attack stole the show by bowling Australia out for 125. Chris Jordan and Chris Woakes were the pick of the bunch and were completely unplayable on the day; Jordan took three wickets for 17 in his four overs and Woakes took two wickets for 23 runs in his four.

Aaron Finch was the only reason Australia reached a respectable score with 44 runs off 49 balls.

Jos Buttler made complete light work of the total smashing a glorious 71 off just 32 balls. The opening batsmen smashed five sixes and five fours throughout his destructive and powerful innings. Buttler took on Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa in particular, smashing the ball right into the top of the stands, embarrassing the Australian batsmen.

Jonny Bairstow smashed a quickfire 16 off 11 balls to help Buttler to finish off the convincing victory.

The Australians looked hopeless against the power of England and Eoin Morgan’s men look big favourites to win the tournament right now having eased past the West Indies, Bangladesh and Australia.
