Eastbourne Town delighted their fans with a 6-0 win over Midhurst & Easebourne in the Sussex County FA Senior Cup first round. John Lambert men faced the away team, who play in a division league below them, both of them top of the league but the home team made the difference instantly as Dan Rogers fired first in the 12th minute followed by Aaron Hopkinson´s goal three minutes after.

A lack of concentration on the visitors’ defence allowed Eastbourne to base their attacks through counterattacks and through balls due to the gaps left in the defensive line. Both third and fourth goal where quickly elaborated as only a few connected passes were needed in order to get to the opponent’s goal, undermining their morale.

As the game came to an end, Josh Bird came out of his comfort zone to intercept a pass but his clearance went straight to Jack Samways boots who striked a 30-yard volley into the net. A hand of goals was scored but Fletcher Holman finished the away team with one last goal to close the game and certify their pass to the next round. Point, game and set.

The Saffrons witnessed a once sided game as the winning team controlled the game during the 90 minutes whereas Midhurst had only two attempts in the whole game. Poor performance given to their inferiority on one on ones and tactical plans. Eastbourne Town await for their next cup rival as they prepare for their league game against Crawley Down Gatwick.
