Home   /   Croatia 0-0 Morocco: Group F opener ends in stalemate

Croatia and Morocco kicked off day four of the 2022 FIFA World Cup with yet another 0-0 display. However, the fixture was far from what can be labeled as monotonous. The two nations battled out a thrilling contest, with Morocco being the far more dominant side to their counterparts, despite Croatia having had superior chances.

The Atlas Lions and the Vatreni competed in a high-stakes bout, with both teams displaying their hunger and eagerness to catapult their teams to stardom. Nevertheless, neither side was able to grasp their opportunities, to differentiate themselves from their opponent.

Sofyan Amrabat was the standout performer for the Moroccans. The Fiorentina midfielder was a colossal presence for Morocco, rendering the Croatian offense null and void, through numerous integral defensive actions, which ensured his side did notconcede.

Croatia, on the other hand, looked up to their captain, Luka Modric to lead them during their time. However, the compact and energetic efforts of the Moroccan side meant, the former Ballon D’Or winner was unable to impact the game.

The 2018 world cup finalists had the more transparent chances, with Nikola Vlasic coming the closest to the goal.

The Croats are set to take on Canada in their second fixture, in what will now be assumed as a match with grave implications. Morocco is programmed to welcome the golden generation of Belgium in their second match.
