Chelsea Women’s Sam Kerr and Fran Kirby have developed quite the understanding on the pitch recently.

The Australian forward recently scored a hat-trick in the 6-0 Continental Cup final victory over Bristol City.

With all the goals being assisted by England’s Kirby as part of an outstanding display which saw her score two and lay on the other four, Kerr’s local coffee outlet provided a bit of advice for the strike partners.

Kiss the Hippo wrote on Kerr’s take-away bag: “Hey Sam. We hope quarantine is going alright. Good win again vs. Wolfsburg. After seeing the cup final goals, Never EVER let Fran Kirby go. She is your assist machine.”

Kerr posted the image to Twitter with the agreement: “My local might be onto something here 😂.”

Kirby, level with her teammate on 12 Women’s Super League goals so far this season, responded: “😅🥰💪🏻.”

Taking a 2-1 lead into the second leg of their Champions League tie with German champions Wolfsburg, and leading the WSL by two points, Chelsea coach Emma Hayes is unlikely to have overlooked the potency of the pair.

Chelsea possess an embarrassment of riches in a squad which also contains UEFA Women’s Player of the Year Pernille Harder, and PFA Player of the Year Beth England.
