Tonight is the second leg between Chelsea vs Atlético Madrid in the Last 16 of the Champions League. In the first leg, Chelsea won thanks to a goal from Olivier Giroud.

Going into the game Chelsea will have a lot of confidence as they have a 1-0 lead going into their home leg. Since Thomas Tuchel became the Chelsea manager the English side has been unbeaten in 12 games.

A huge player in this run for Chelsea is Mason Mount, but the English midfielder is out for this game due to suspension. Jorginho is also suspended for the second leg in the game.

Tuchel has made five changes to the team that won the first leg with Kurt Zouma, Reece James, N’Golo Kanté, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz in the team for Andreas Christensen, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Jorginho, Mount and Giroud.

Atlético Madrid are currently the league leaders in La Liga and are full of confidence. But, they know they have a lot of work to do if they are going to progress further in the competition.

Luis Suárez is the second top goalscorer in La Liga and has a fantastic goalscoring record in England. Diego Simeone knows Suárez is his sides best hope in progressing in the competition. Simeone has made four changes to the side that lost the first leg in the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium with Renan Lodi, José Giménez, Kieran Tripper and Yannick Carrasco in the team instead of Felipe, Mario Hermoso, Thomas Lemar and Ángel Correa.

The other game in the Champions League tonight is between Bayern Munich and Lazio with the German side 4-1 up in the tie going into the second leg in Germany.

Both sides will be coming out shortly for the start of the second leg.

Atlético Madrid has kicked off the game.

2nd min: Atlético Madrid has put the Chelsea defence straight away in the game but the English side was able to block both shots from the La Liga leaders.

4th min: Renan Lodi got the first shot clear shot off in the game with was well held by Edouard Mendy in the Chelsea goal.

8th min: Chelsea has had a lot of possession in the early minutes of the game. The English side has done well in limiting the number of mistakes they have made in the early stages of the game.

12th min: Not the most exciting start to a Champions League in London tonight. Chelsea has had a lot of the possession so far in the game but hasn’t been able to create a clear cut chance so far in the game.

15th min: Atlético Madrid know they will need to score a goal at some point tonight but to do that they need to get the ball.

19th min: Werner was able to get the ball in the penalty area and tried getting a shot off but the ball hit his teammate Hakim Ziyech and the ball went out for a goal kick.

24th min: It is a bit bizarre how Atlético Madrid are playing right now as they don’t seem to be trying to create any chances.

26th min: PENALTY APPEAL FOR ATLETICO MADRID! A poor back pass from César Azpilicueta results in him pulling down Yannick Carrasco in the penalty area, but the referee doesn’t give the penalty. VAR doesn’t even check the decision which looks like a blatant penalty.

30th min: YELLOW CARD FOR CHELSEA. Havertz gets a yellow card for catching Savić in the head with his arm.

31st min: YELLOW CARD FOR ATLETICO MADRID. Lodi picks up a yellow card for a late challenge on James.

34th min: GOAL FOR CHELSEA! Ziyech scores a huge goal for Chelsea as they are now 2-0 up in the tie on aggregate. Werner did well in finding Ziyech in the penalty area and the Chelsea midfielder was able to put the ball in the back off the net with a first-time finish.

37th min: Chelsea has dominated the game so far as the La Liga leaders doesn’t seem like they are going to score a goal at the moment.

39th min: João Félix tried getting a shot off on goal but the shot was deflected which meant Mendy had an easy save.

45th min: Kovačić tried to double his sides lead on the night was a curling effort outside the penalty area but couldn’t get the shot on target.

HALF TIME: That’s the end of the first half with Chelsea winning 1-0 on the night and are 2-0 up on aggregate. Ziyech is the man who has scored the only goal in tonight’s game. Atlético Madrid will feel like they should have got a penalty in the first half when Azpilicueta bought down Carrasco in the penalty area.

Half time substitution for Atlético Madrid: Lodi is off for Mario Hermoso.

48th min: First chance in the first half goes to Werner who was through on goal but has at a difficult angle, his shot tested Oblak in the Atlético Madrid goal.

51st min: YELLOW CARD FOR ATLETICO MADRID. Saul has picked up the first yellow card in the second half.

53rd min: SUBSTITUTION FOR ATLETICO MADRID. Carrasco is off for Moussa Dembélé.

57th min: Zieych almost got another goal for his team which his curling effort getting tipped over the bar by Oblak. Chelsea look like they are the only team going to score tonight.

59th min: SUBSTITUTION FOR ATLETICO MADRID. Luis Suárez is off for Angel Correa.

60th min: YELLOW CARD FOR ATLETICO MADRID. Giménez picks up a yellow card for a heavy challenge on Havertz.

65th min: If the La Liga leaders are going to get back into this tie they will need to score soon because they need to get two goals if they are going to progress in the competition. Chelsea have been very comfortable so far in this game. This is a slight break in the game right now as Zouma has suffered a head injury.

69th min: SUBSTITUTION FOR ATLETICO MADRID. Tripper is off for Thomas Lemar.

72nd min: YELLOW CARD FOR ATLETICO MADRID. Koke has picked up a yellow card for a late challenge. It looks like it will be a night to forget for the Spanish side.

76th min: Felix has had his side first proper shot on goal this half from a tight angle which was saved by Mendy and eventually cleared by the Chelsea defence.

77th min: SUBSTITUTION FOR CHELSEA. Ziyech is off Christian Pulisic.

80th min: 10 Minutes left in the game and Atlético Madrid need to create chances soon or they will be out of the Champions League.

81st min: RED CARD ATLETICO MADRID. Savic gets a red card for elbowing Rüdiger and he is off for Violent conduct. The German centre back makes the most of it but Savic shouldn’t have elbowed him. That will probably confirm Chelsea place in the quarter-finals.

83rd min: SUBSTITUTION FOR CHELSEA. Werner is off for Hudson-Odoi.

85th min: Hudson-Odoi almost scored with his first touch but his shot went straight at Oblak who held the shot well.

90th min: Five minutes of added time as Chelsea will be heading towards the quarter-final of the Champions League.

92nd min: GREAT SAVE! Mendy denies Atlético Madrid having any chances in getting back in this game as Mendy does brilliantly to score Felix’s effort on goal.

93rd min: SUBSTITUTIONS FOR CHELSEA. Ben Chilwell and Emerson are on for Havertz and Alonso.

94th min: GOAL FOR CHELSEA! Emerson scores with his first touch after a clinical counter attack from Chelsea. Emerson was able to received the ball from Pulisic and the Brazilian was able to finish the chance brilliantly as Chelsea lead 2-0 on the night and 3-0 on aggregate.

Full time at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea has progressed in the Champions League thanks to goals from Ziyech and Emerson which meant they won the tie 3-0.

Chelsea completely dominated the game as Atlético Madrid didn’t look like they were going to score during the game.

Savic’s sending off confirmed his sides fate as they were never going to get back into the game with 10 men. Overall a good night for Chelsea who are in the quarter-final for the first time since 2014.
