Home   /   Belgium v Switzerland: Match Preview

Tomorrow, Belgium host Switzerland in an international friendly before both countries continue their respective UEFA Nations League campaigns.

Belgium currently sit in pole position to win their Nations League group, but the ultimate decider will come in the Red Devils’ clash with England on Sunday. Manager Roberto Martinez will not be wanting to take any risks, and will almost certainly put their strongest squad on display for these upcoming games.

However, Belgium will be without one of their key men. The news broke at the weekend that Eden Hazard had tested positive for Coronavirus, meaning that he will not be available for any of the squad’s upcoming internationals. Charles De Ketelaere has been called up to the senior international squad for the first time, meaning that he may be likely to make his debut against Switzerland.

Meanwhile, Switzerland currently sit in fourth in their Nations League qualifying group, only gaining two points from their last four games. Vladimir Petkovic really needs to turn things around, and a win away at FIFA’s highest-ranked team will certainly give them the confidence boost that they desperately need.

The starting line up for the away team will almost certainly include captain Granit Xhaka, despite his recent lack of game time for Arsenal. Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri may be left out this one as a precaution prior to Switzerland’s next competitive fixture against Spain on Saturday.
