Champions League race at the BayArena

Overseas, the Bundesliga returns once again as The BayArena welcomes us this Sunday for a what looks certain to be an action-packed clash between Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach.

The words ”We want to beat Gladbach” from Peter Bosz’ press conference shows just how much his side will be looking to avenge last campaigns disappointing end at the hands of their opponents. Whereas, the ex-Red Bull Salzburg manager Marco Rose, shares the Dutchman’s ambition for a victory when stating “We have to deliver again on Sunday in Leverkusen”.

Back in early May this year, Leverkusen beat Gladbach 3-1 away from home, but in the end couldn’t finish the season higher than The Foals.

Despite snatching the UCL spot last season, the away side are currently sat in fifth place. With Leverkusen sat just one spot above in fourth place, only one point splits the sides for now.

Unfortunately for Bosz, the Eternal Bridesmaids’ long injury list continues as the likes of Patrik Schick, Charles Aranguiz and Lars Bender all look a doubt for the 5pm kick off.

Whereas, Marco Rose will have to go without star midfielder Denis Zakaria as he continues to undergo fitness issues. Meanwhile, a shoulder injury keeps Andreas Poulson from making an appearance anytime soon.

Nevertheless, in-from strikers Lucas Alario and Marcus Thuram will give us a nail-biting clash.
