Fermín López shined as Barcelona cruised to a monumental 200th win across the European’s top competition with a 2-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

Goals from Fermin López and Ferran Torres helped Barcelona to extend their winning streak in Champions League games, increasing their lead atop Group H with nine points and putting them comfortably in line for qualification to the knockout stages.

Torres found the back of the net in the 28th minute of the game with a brilliant close range finish following López’s shot against the post, originally ruled out for offside a swift VAR check went in his favour giving Barcelona a 1-0 lead.

It didn’t take long for López to find his goal, beating the post this time with a thunderous strike into the top corner putting his side up 2-0 in the 36th minute.

With their first shot on target all match Shakhtar midfielder Heorhiy Sudakov fired a great finish past Marc-André ter Stegen in the 62nd minute to close Barcelona’s lead to one goal.

Outside of this, Shakhtar Donetsk failing to register another shot on target and conceding six corners to Barcelona.

Barcelona were unlucky to not extend their lead with a late header by standout López being ruled out for offside.

Following this loss, Shakhtar are in a troubling position in Group H, sitting third with just three points and minus two goal difference.

After tonight’s win all eyes now focus on red-hot Jude Bellingham and Real Madrid this weekend.
