Home   /   Back-to-back Kane hat-trick secures win over deflated Dortmund in German Klassiker

A Harry Kane hat-trick and an early goal from Dayot Upamecano secured a confident win for Bayern against a weak Dortmund in the German Klassiker on Matchday ten of this years’ Bundesliga season.

The first ten minutes seemed like the Borussen were unfocused as they let Bayern highly dominate. A fourth minute header by Upamecano made it 1:0 and Kane extended the Bayern lead shortly after with an amazing pass by Leroy Sane in the ninth minute. Both goals have been assisted by the left-wing – his sixth assist of the season.

Although Dortmund found into the game after the early shocks, they did not manage to use their few chances. The best opportunity in the first half was a shot by Donyell Malen in the 45+2nd minute but he missed the target by quite a few metres.

The second half went similar. Bayern kept dominating and Dortmund did not improve to use their chances and almost seemed clueless on how to handle the Red’s attacks. Kane managed to score his second goal of the day in the 72nd minute and shortly after scored his second consecutive hat-trick in the 90th+3 minute.

Despite Bayern missing important players like Joshua Kimmich and Matthijs De Ligt, it was an impressive comeback from the record champions after their loss in the DFB-Pokal against third-tier Saarbrücken.

Dortmund’s fear of “rarely see(ing) two disappointing performances in a row from Bayern”, as coach Edin Terzic said before the clash, came true and the Schwarz-Gelben lost their first game in this year’s Bundesliga season.
