Favorites Manchester City travel to Wanda Metropolitano to take on Atletico Madrid in the UEFA champions league as they look to book a place in the semi-finals for a second successive year. City won the first leg 1-0 at home.
Atletico Madrid lost 1-0 to Mallorca at the weekend while City played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against their arch-rivals, Liverpool.

This will be the first time City will face Atletico in a European competition. City has won just three of their previous 11 games against Spanish oppositions. However, Man City are unbeaten in nine and has won six out of seven on the road.
Atletico Madrid is winless in their last seven games in the UEFA champions league (D4, L3). Their previous home win in the competition came in October 2020 (3-2 vs RB Salzburg).
Atletico Madrid failed to register a shot in the first leg against Man City. Since 2003-04 the only team to fail to register a shot on target across two legs was Deportivo La Coruna against FC Porto in the semi-finals.
This will be Man City’s 100th game in the UEFA champions league. They have won 55 of their first 99, which is already the most by any English side. The only side to better this record in their first 100 games in this competition is Real Madrid, winning 57.

City’s winger Riyad Mahrez has scored six goals in his last six away games in the UEFA champions league. He has scored in three consecutive away games in the knockout stages of this competition. Should he score in this match, only Cristiano Ronaldo will have scored in more such games consecutively (6).
