Overtime Online is a website run by Journalism and Sport Journalism students from the University of Brighton – run by the students, for the students.
Here, you’ll find sports and news stories from our wealth of talented first, second and third years, who produce previews, reports and opinion pieces on a wide range of sports from football to Formula One. There are also opportunities to be involved behind the scenes in sub-editing, choosing pictures, writing headlines and uploading material. Students are also encouraged to produce video and audio for the site as multimedia skills are essential in today’s media landscape.
Though Overtime began as a sports news site, it has since expanded to give our journalists the chance to cover local news, entertainment, arts, culture, and current affairs.
The work our students produce acts as an excellent showcase for potential employers, and our students have gone on to write and work for industry-leading institutions such as the Independent, the Sun, the Daily Mail, the London Evening Standard, Sky Sports, the BBC and so on. We’re very proud of what we have created over the last few years with the site, and have collaborated with local newspapers such as the Eastbourne Herald to produce hard copies of our work.
In the ever-changing world of digital media, the future of Overtime is not totally clear, but you’re guaranteed to find top-quality work here in the years to come.
