Fabian Hurzeler’s men are in good form this season, having only lost once in the last six games, whereas the Russell Martin-led side sit bottom of the current form league, with only one win in six.

Russell Martin, born in Brighton and having played for Brighton’s youth academy, will be looking to get his team their first away point of the season.

Both teams had close games last weekend. Brighton were 2-0 up against Bournemouth until a late goal from Brooks had the Seagulls holding on for a 2-1 win, whereas Southampton were leading 2-1 against the leaders Liverpool but eventually lost 3-2.

After that defeat, Martin said there was “frustration and disappointment at the goals we concede” after all three Liverpool goals came from Saints mistakes.
