Sandler’s Fresh Flop

By Chris Kaye

Adam Sandler’s new comedy special was meant to be his big return to comedy, the title 100% Fresh was a satirical dig at his previously poor reviews he had received for his work. Unfortunately, it has not met expectation.

Sandler went from songs where he wrote “funny” verses from Bar mitzvahs to an emotional piece about his late comedian friend Chris Farley.

In one word, his latest attempt at comedy was disappointing but what do you expect after starring in movies such as Grown Ups 1 and 2 and Jack and Jill.

However, this is not to say Sandler has not starred in funny movies such as Happy Gilmore, That’s my Boy and Billy Madison, these are some great films which is why his latest show is a disappointment.

The style Sandler went for may have been hard to understand from a British person’s point of view as it has received excellent reviews; however, I could not bring myself to even smile at his jokes. A lot of his jokes were rushed jumping from song to song; meaning his comedic timing was all wrong.

One of the worst parts was when he made a rap about only needing a wallet, phone and keys. I can honestly say this was one of the most cringeworthy things I have ever witnessed.

The fact that I do not find this funny can not only be because I am British, there are plenty of American stand-up comedians I love: Doug Stanhope, George Carlin and Kevin Hart to name a few. Adam Sandler, 100% fresh, was just not funny.

Overall, this was one of the worst, if not, the worst stand-up sets I have ever watched.
