PREVIEW: Manchester United v Sevilla FC

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho received a huge boost as Anthony Martial is set to return to the fold ahead of their Champions League round of 16 second-leg tie against Sevilla.

Zlatan Ibrahimović has resumed full training but is still unlikely to feature. Mourinho did admit that he was unsure if Paul Pogba would be fit to play after picking up an unfortunate gash in his leg, the day before their 2-1 victory against Liverpool on Saturday but was included in the 21-man match day squad for tonight’s encounter.

However, stonewall absentees include Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Ander Herrera who are all missing for the Red Devils who have only lost just one of their past nine home Champions League games against Spanish opposition.

Los Rojiblancos also come into the game lacking reinforcements with Sebastien Corchica, alongside former Manchester City winger Jesus Navas and Daniel Carrico all struggling to recover from injuries. When asked about his side, coach Vincenzo Montella said that: “We know we have to give everything and hope the key moments go our way. We have to play the situations. There will be moments we have to defend, and moments where we have to attack – and moments to slow the game down and moments to speed it up.”

When the sides first met at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on February 21st, it’s pretty safe to say that United goalkeeper David De Gea was in inspired form. The Spanish shot-stopper’s string of stunning saves earned United a credible goalless draw and Sevilla have identified this trait by sending De Gea a playful tweet telling him to save his best form for the World Cup in Russia this summer.

Sevilla are yet to win a Champions League game in England (D1 L3), with that draw being at Liverpool in this season’s group stages.
