Preview: Fulham v Liverpool

By Luke Osman

Fulham welcome title-chasing Liverpool to Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts have endured an underwhelming season and find themselves rooted in the relegation zone. They are sat in 19th place and are 13 points away from Burnley, who are narrowly outside the bottom three.

After sacking both Slavisa Jokanovic and Claudio Ranieri, Scott Parker is in interim charge of the club.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have enjoyed a successful campaign. They trail Manchester City at the top of the table by just one point and will be desperate to pip them to Premier League glory.

Marcus Bettinelli and Alfie Mawson are set to miss out for Fulham, while Andre Schurrle could return after recovering from a virus.

Reds captain Jordan Henderson is ruled out with an ankle injury, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez are long-term absentees. Naby Keita will be assessed ahead of the match.

In their most recent outing, Fulham succumbed to another defeat. Leicester City beat them 3-1 as an opening strike from Youri Tielemans and a brace from Jamie Vardy cancelled out Floyd Ayite’s goal.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are brimming with confidence. They defeated Bayern Munich 3-1 at the Allianz Arena to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League in midweek.

Sadio Mane scored a brace and Virgil van Dijk netted a header to spare Joel Matip’s blushes after he scored an own goal.
