Palace may swoop for Danny Welbeck

Crystal Palace may be lining up a surprise £10 million move for Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck in the January transfer window.

Welbeck is out of contract in the summer and has not yet been offered a new deal by the North London club.

The 27-year-old has started just one Premier League match this season despite scoring four goals in the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

Unai Emery has praised the forward’s determination as he remains backup to both Pierre-Emerick Aubameang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Arsenal are still contemplating whether to listen to offers in the January window as they are reluctant for him to leave in the summer on a free transfer.

Emery could potentially overhaul a series of players including Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal, and Petr Cech in a hope to raise funds for two new signings.

Crystal Palace are struggling to score goals this campaign and would be keen to boost their attacking options.

Palace manager Roy Hodgson was in charge of the England National Team for four years and gave Welbeck plenty of opportunities, which included 25 of his 42 international caps.
