Kell Brook v Michael Zerafa confirmed

Kell Brook’s next fight will be against Australian Michael Zerafa in front of a hometown crowd at the Sheffield Arena on December 8th, as confirmed his team today.

‘Special K’ has only fought two rounds since losing his world title to Errol Spence Jr. in May 2017, and has expressed his excitement following the announcement, saying: “I’m delighted to be back at Sheffield Arena in front of my people. I want to close the year in special fashion and set up some blockbuster fights in 2019.”

Brook’s opponent, Zerafa, is a former Commonwealth champion, and at 26 years of age, has lost just two of his 27 professional fights.

Ahead of arguably his biggest test, the Australian said: “I thrive from being the underdog and I believe that Kell Brook’s team have made the mistake of overlooking me. On December 8th there will be a huge upset and I will make a lot of people eat their words.”

Many will be disappointed that Brook isn’t fighting long-term rival Amir Khan, but promoter to Brook and Khan, Eddie Hearn, assured fans that they have every intention of making the fight with Khan. “We all know that the Khan fight is on the horizon but this is all part of Kell’s preparation for being razor sharp and bringing his weight down to 154lbs – Zerafa aims to spoil the party”

The card also features Jono Carroll, who fights in a final eliminator to become mandatory for IBF Super-Featherweight champion Tevin Farmer, as well as former Olympian Josh Kelly, Gary Spike O’Sullivan, and fan favourite David Allen.
