How to register to vote

The deadline to register to vote is 26 November at 11:59pm. You can register online at with your national insurance number.

You can also register by post. You can find the forms either through your local Electoral Registration Office or by clicking here.

You can vote in person, by post, or by proxy. You need to be registered in the area where you wish to vote in person. Before the election you will be sent a poll card, which will state the location where you are able to vote. If you plan to vote by post you must apply no later than 5pm on 26 November if you live in England, Scotland or Wales and 5pm on 21 November if you live in Northern Ireland. You don’t need to provide any reason for voting.

Apply for postal vote here. Send the completed form to your local Electoral Registration Office.

You may vote by proxy if you are away on polling day, have a medical issue or disability, or if you are not able to vote in person because of work or military service.
