Chelsea leaping towards quarter finals

Chelasea 3 Rosengard 0

Chelsea Ladies made a huge step towards the quarter finals of the Champions League following a win over Swedish side Rosengard.

The first half was a dominant display with Chelsea creating chance after chance, constantly testing an uncertain Rosengard defence.

Their keeper Zerica Musovic had several nervous moments, as she was constantly under treat.

The visiting side saw only one chance in the first half, but Crystal Dunn cleared the ball off the line.

The deadlock was finally broken when England’s striker Fran Kirby cut inside two defenders to slot past the keeper.

The second half saw Rosengard improve and begin threatening the Chelsea goal more often.

Rosengard brought the competitions record goal scorer Anja Mittag in the 66 minute with the hope of equalising the score.

Nevertheless, Chelsea got their second goal when Ramona Bachmann finished after being picked out by Ji So-Yun.

Their final score followed shortly after when centre-back Gilly Flaherty taped in the ball after Kirby’s shot was blocked.

The two teams will now face each other in Sweden in a week’s time for the second leg of the round of 16 with Chelsea having a comfortable lead.
