Chelsea v Everton – Match Preview

By Jessica Watkins

Chelsea return home after a 2,300 mile trip away in Belarus to compete in the Europa league to take on Everton this Sunday.

Chelsea are second in Premier League table after making a terrific start under the wing of Maurizio Sarri. The Blues are unbeaten in the competition so far with 13 wins and 10 draws. A win on Sunday would put pressure on Manchester City ahead of the champions derby against United.

Everton have met with the West London team 52 times in the Premier League, with Chelsea winning 25 times, Everton nine whilst drawing 18 times. The Toffees have scored only one goal in their last five matches against the Blues.

Ross Barkley will be starting against his former club, however Ruben Loftus-Cheek may miss out due to a minor back problem. Everton are at full strength minus James McCarthy who has not made an appearance recently.

If this weekend’s results fall in Chelsea’s favour they secure top spot ahead of Manchester City. However, Everton could destroy this hope and are looking dangerous having won their last 5 league games.
