Bruno Fernandes has capped off his perfect start to life in the Premier League after picking up the PFA Player of the Month award for February.

The Portuguese midfielder was named both the PFA and Manchester United’s Player of the Month in only his first full month since joining the Red Devils in January. His incredible performances have helped guide United to a ten-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

It has been no surprise that United’s recent form has coincided with Fernandes’ arrival at the club with United losing three of the previous four league games before Fernandes joined.

The former Sporting Lisbon man has hit the ground running at United being named Man of the Match in each of his first four league games.

He has registered two goals and has three assists to his name after playing just five Premier League matches. United’s run has seen them reduce the gap to third place Leicester City to just five points in their pursuit of Champions League football.

The Portuguese maestro has been pivotal during United’s great run of form which has seen them claw fourth-placed Chelsea back to within just three points.

Fernandes was instrumental in the 2-0 away win against The Blues as United recorded their first league double over Chelsea since 1988. Fernandes registered the first goal involvement of his United career in the game as he assisted Harry Maguire from a corner to make the score 2-0.

This was the first time United had scored a corner in the league since Romelu Lukaku in February 2019.

Fernandes scored his first goal for United the following week, slotting home from the spot in the 3-0 home win against Watford. He followed this up a week later with his second goal in the league in the 1-1 draw with Everton.

However, it was Fernandes’ imperious display in United’s most recent game, a 2-0 home win in the Manchester derby that has thoroughly endeared him to United fans.

Fernandes registered his third assist in just four games as he set up Anthony Martial’s opener which spurred United onto victory which saw The Red Devils complete their first league double over their city rivals for over a decade.

Fernandes has also helped United reach the Europa League round of 16, scoring in the second leg win against Belgium league leaders Club Brugge as United look to win the competition for the second time in just four years.

Fernandes is currently the top scorer in the competition scoring six goals and registering three assists for both Sporting Lisbon and Manchester United.

Throughout his first month in England, Fernandes has shown himself to be exactly the player United were crying out for with the Portuguese midfielder proving his attacking prowess to register 3.8 shots a game and over two key passes per game.

Fernandes has shown his defensive qualities too, averaging over two tackles and over an interception a game in the Premier League.

Fernandes’ form since arriving has done nothing to quash the hype around him from his days at Sporting Lisbon and has put him firmly in the debate of signing of the season as well as being one of the best midfielders in the world, certainly in the Premier League.
