After a demoralising 3-1 defeat away at St Mary’s, Brighton looked to pick themselves up and bounce back against Kent at home. After an emphatic performance from the team the Panthers got their 3 points with a 2-1 win.

Much like Brighton’s title hopes, Kent’s bus was in tatters as it broke down leaving only 9 of their players to kick off the tie. This clearly favoured the home side and the Panthers came out roaring.

The Panthers full-backs pushed up the pitch throughout the game, leaving the opposition full-backs in a 2v1 situation often getting the better of them as they didn’t know whether to stick or twist. This created the first stunning strike from full-back Ellis Cowd who opened the scoring with a sweet strike that left Kent’s defence shaken.

The second half got underway with Kent’s full team out on the field and raring to get back in the game. The Panthers began the second as they did the first, pushing for a goal and threatening early on.

Brighton took advantage of the weak link in Kent’s side and dominated the right flank to create their second goal. Striker Dan Martyn found the back of the net to double the score line and put the Panthers on their way for 3 points.

With nothing to lose, Kent played without fear as the game began to slip away from them. As the pressure mounted, Brighton fell deeper and deeper into their own half in an attempt to preserve their lead.

However, Kent managed to pull one back but it was to no avail as Brighton held out to win the game.

After a solid response from Brighton following their previous defeat, the team looks forward to hosting Hertfordshire in the continuing battle to stay in the league.
