2019 World Series of Darts Finals Review

World number one Michael van Gerwen has won his fourth World Series of Darts title, as he defeated Danny Noppert in front of a jubilant Dutch crowd.

The Dutchman put in a stellar performance in front of his home crowd, winning 11-2. His dominant display over his fellow Dutchman meant he added to his 2015, 2016 and 2017 titles in style.

Averaging 102 for the tournament, the world number one only lost 12 legs across his three matches. In the final, he racked up nine successive legs – he even scored 499 but struggled to hit double one, allowing Noppert to win his second leg of the match.

Van Gerwin beat Johnny Clayton 10 – 6 in the quarter-final before thrashing Mensur Suljovic 11–4 in the semis, while Noppert defeated Ian White 10 – 9 and Dave Chisnel 11–10 on his route to the final.

The 30-year-old ‘Green Machine’ will surely be setting his sights on eclipsing Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor’s record of 85 major titles, with him currently on 34 major titles.
